Join commcolleges!
I'm trying to unite community college students across the country in one community so we can share advice, give support, and talk about community colleges in general. Please join commcolleges if you'd like!

(My apologies if this is not permitted. Since it's so related to the community's topic, I figured it would be fine.)

Has anyone else here had Virginia Lee from the Math Department as a professor?

Just wondering what you think/thought of her.

I'm finding her unbearable, and potentially the worst instructor I have ever had in my twelve years of experience in schools. And that's saying a lot because I've had a lot of teachers.

Anybody know about a place where I can fill out something about my opinion of her, so as to warn students who might be stuck with her in the future? You know, like a student union sort of thing ... I dunno.

Additional thought: Wow ... the traffic at Brookdale is ridiculous. Ack.

People need to put down the cell-phones ... for real.

There are way too many self-important people blabbing away on cellphones all day with nothing to say.

soooo... i am working on getting a date set up at BCC to show a video called WE INTERRUPT THIS EMPIRE. it's by the video activist network. it focuses on war profiteers (chevron, bechtel, halliburton, etc.) and also on the march 20, 2003 - the day we attacked iraq with no valid reason. it focuses on the response of the citizens of san francisco and how they literally SHUT down the city in response. it's a really awesome video and it's better than fahrenheit 9-11 if you're a fan of michael moore.

ok. i'll keep you posted.

Hey guys... please, please leave me a comment if this grabs anyone's attention... I really got interested in this certain type of therapy that a co-worker told me about called "Holographic Repatterning"... it has to do with brain function. I would group it in the Holistic field... you can take fears and worries and "shed the layers." I think this is a really great thing and I looked up information on how to get a seminar going here for people in our area (central NJ) so we wouldn't have to go traveling somewhere for a weekend... she says we need 20 people to set up a seminar (when you take part in the seminar, by the end, you will be certified in this field). Are you interested? There's more information here: www.holographic.org

Oh and does anyone have an interest in Graphic Design and/or Fashion Merchandising? (aka the 2 things I want to major in...) Well that's it for now....

i see that some of us girls have common interests in music. i have tons of old school indie and emo and riot girl and punk rock and what not music. we should have a music geek group at school and get money from BCC and use it on shows. hehe. or a BCC geek girls club and we can do geeky stuff like, uh, listen to music and talk about boyssss. hahahaha

real fast, some of the stuff i've been listening to lately -

kolya - they're a current-ish band from uh, boston, i think, on caulfield records, i think, and they're fucking fantastic. if anyone wants a tape lemme know. or you can borrow my cd but if i don't get it back i am going to hurt you.
rodan - one of the first indie bands circa 1994 from louisville, ky. they're the pre-june of 44 and various other bands... uh, band. also amazing.
gillian welch - bluegrass. hot shit.
le tigre - the token current riot girl band.
gather - vegan sXe from california. sikkk.
rant music - canadian gypsy punk music.
hashbrown - funky stuff from florida/new jersey.
modest mouse - one of my favorite bands for the past 6 or 7 years.

ok, i am done being a dork.

I have a few questions ...

- Is the orientation important? I missed it, accidentially, and I'm wondering if it really matters.

- If I don't have a car, is there any way to get to school aside from taking a bus? I live in Red Bank.

- Anyone have any advice or something on the following classes? I'm a freshman, and naturally nervous, so I'd appreciate all the help possible.

* Calculus I
* Physics with Calculus
* Practical Reasoning
* Meh, some english class which eludes me. Seems dumb though.

Don't buy gas on May 19th.

It has been calculated that if everyone in the United States did not purchase a drop of gasoline for one day and all at the same time, the oil companies would choke on their stockpiles. At the same time it would hit the entire industry with a net loss of over 4.6 billion dollars which affects the bottom lines of the oil companies.

Therefore, May 19th has been formally declared as "shove it day" and the people's this nation should not buy a single drop of gasoline.

The only way this can work is if we get the message out to as many people as possible and as quickly as possible. . Waiting on the administration to step in and control gas prices is not going to happen.

We can make a difference, so do your part and spread the word. DON'T BUY GAS ON MAY 19TH !!!!
